Unlike many other companies, we provide our customers with information on the absorbency of our products. This absorbency is calculated by a procedure known as the “Dip and Drip”
test. The product is weighed when dry, soaked in saline solution and then weighed again.
The difference in the dry weight and wet weight measures the absorbency of the product. This information allows you to try lighter or heavier products depending on your needs and experience.
Each of the Just For You products provides one of the following levels of protection
Light -Products offering light protection absorb up to 7 ounces
and are used for 1) sudden releases of fluid lasting only a couple of seconds (often as a result of stress incontinence which occurs during activities that increase pressure within the abdomen such as coughing, laughing, sneezing or exercise) or 2) slow dribbling of fluid which may occur continuously or sporadically without any sensation that the bladder is full. This condition is referred to as overflow incontinence.
Moderate - Products offering moderate protection absorb 8 to 14 ounces
and are used for more sustained releases of fluid lasting several seconds often as a result of urge incontinence. Urge incontinence occurs when the bladder contracts involuntarily and there is a sudden desire to urinate.
Heavy - Products offering heavy protection absorb 15 ounces or more and should contain full releases of the
bladder. Although these products are not designed for protection against fecal incontinence, they are effective when the urge to urinate cannot be held off when away from a restroom.
Maximum/Overnight -Products offering maximum and/or overnight protection
absorb over 20 ounces
and are designed to contain successive releases of the bladder (which is important for overnight use) as well as fecal incontinence. These products provide protection against complete loss of bladder or bowel control.
